Recycling -- The Easiest Thing You Can Do!

Recycling is one of the easiest things you can do for the environment. It can be as simple as tossing your plastic, paper, cardboard, metal and glass in a different bin then the trash or as fun as reutilizing yogurt containers as plant starters or making baby food jars into mosaic candle holders.

This page will give you lots of great info on what items are considered recyclable, tips on where you can take recyclables that aren't picked up, and fun projects you can make out of things you would normally throw out.

What's the Process?

It's a series of actions that includes collecting recyclable materials that might otherwise be considered waste. Then they are sorted and processed into raw materials like fibers, and manufactured raw materials are made into new products.

It can be collected via curbside pickup, at drop-off centers, buy-back centers and deposit/refund programs.

Once collected recyclables are run through a re-manufacturing process and turned into many household items like newspaper, paper towels, drink containers, steel cans and plastic laundry detergent bottles. Some innovative ways recyclables are being used are for glass in roadway asphalt, carpeting and even glass flooring and countertops that look like terrazzo!
